Huang Jing Rui

Jing Rui has been the appointed Executive Director of 84000 since its inception in 2009. Prior to that, she worked in a non-profit setting as a social worker in Singapore. In part to seek alternative answers to the ills of urban living and in part to pursue her childhood dreams, she left her career to volunteer in Bir, a remote village in the Indian Himalayas. It was in these hills that she, most unexpectedly, stumbled upon the opportunity to take part in 84000—a hundred-year undertaking that will last beyond her lifetime.Jing Rui’s passion for preserving Buddhist wisdom is deeply personal. As a mother of two lovely sons, their presence inspires her daily to ensure the Buddha’s teachings remain available—authentically and meaningfully—for them and future generations. To her, 84000 is more than a job; it’s about safeguarding time-tested wisdom and a transformative way of life that has the power to change lives and inspire awakening, including her own.
